Very compact, useful and durable
The Lightload Towels are an excellent addition to your backpack or survival kit. They are extremely compact and do not take up any room in your gear. I found it to be very durable despite some of the other reviews who state that they are not much better than a regular paper towel. It is much more durable than a paper towel and it is very absorbent. I do not recommend putting them in a washing machine considering they are so inexpensive there is no reason to have to wash them.
Besides being a towel they have other useful purposes as well such as fire tinder, water filter, bandage, and good to clean eating utensils and pans.
The only potential drawback to using the Lightload Towels is that it takes water to activate the towel so that it will expand. If you are low on water then consider another option such as a bandana.
Overall, a great product that should be a part of your gear.

"towel" is misleading; not machine-washable
It's a great *paper towel* but that's all it is: a reusable paper towel that is absorbent and stronger than normal paper towel.
Just because they called it a "towel" without any qualification, I assumed it was machine-washable, and boy, was I surprised. Don't put this in a washer with clothes if you don't want the "towel" to turn into a mush of lint that sticks to clothes.

Hum
I'm not sure what I expected. Mine came plain white, with no logo as shown in some of the pictures. I was expecting them to be thin, but man! These are thinner then a paper towel! That being said, I was pleasantly surprised at how durable they are. I was afraid I would rip it to shreds, but that didn't happen. I'd say if you used it lightly, say as a washcloth only, you could get lots of use. In a cold-ish (60 degrees or less) climate these will take quite a few hours to dry. I bought these to put in my emergency kit, and for that purpose I will give them four stars. As a camping towel it would get less, because around here in the pacific northwest it would probably never dry. 2010-02-23

Lightload Towels
I love these towels, both as an early morning face cloth and for cleaning pots/pans. I take at least two new towels on each BP trip. 2009-11-11

Lightload Towels---nice in a pinch
Not as thick as I expected, but nice when you're in a pinch. They dry within an hour. Great for clean up, a wash cloth, face towel etc. 2009-08-30
